#1 Dad

Hugh & Arlo know their daddy is Numero Uno because he...
:: tickles and wrestles
:: patiently builds lego
:: patiently steps on lego
:: patiently cleans up lego
:: reads really, really long bedtime stories
:: kisses scraped knees
:: pushes the swing higher, higher...highest.
:: appreciates hand-painted rocks
:: soothes worried thoughts {Read: soothes Mummy's worried thoughts}
:: tirelessly works
And although the list stretches to a-mile-reasons-high, there will always be one attribute of their father that takes the cake...literally.
From the hearts, eyes and stomachs of Hugh & Arlo, their daddy is Numero Uno because he...
:: Eats Cake for Breakfast...in bed!Nice try Arlo...

Happy Father's Day! We love you!!!

Young Artists...and Hugh

Lately, Hugh can be heard belting out these lyrics ::
'When I get older
I will be stronger
They'll call me flee-dom
Just like a ranger's bag
And then I'll get it back
then I'll get it back
Oooohhh'
It is a lovely little tune...and there's something about Hugh's rendition that really puts a big smile on our faces...

Hungry

While Arlo was soaking in the bath, he fell fast asleep. And now I have the biggest craving for a burrito. I haven't a clue why...xo

Holiday

We have just returned recovered from a two day getaway at our dear cottage. We love a mini-holiday. Albeit a little exhausting, each minute bursts with joy and appreciation for the brief yet uninterrupted time spent together. This cottage visit was filled with boating, broom-ing, building, bocce-ing and of course, brotherly bonding. And when we ran out of activities beginning with the letter B, we packed our bags and headed home.

{Arlo found boating very relaxing...Zzzzzz}

Up

This week, it was brought to Arlo's attention that there is a place where fluffy teapots are chased by even fluffier poodles. A vast space where the bluest of blues embrace the whitest of whites. An unbelievable world, that must be seen to be believed. Airplanes. Birds. Stars. Moon. Sun. And even lost balloons....all prevail in Arlo's newly discovered view. Arlo, meet Up. Up, meet Arlo.

Best Medicine?

After an all day stomach bug attack, we asked Hugh what would make him feel better.
Ginger Ale? No.
Toast? No.
Water? No.
Crackers? No.
Ginger Ale? No.
A Bath? No.
Soup? No.
Ginger Ale? No. No. No.
I flopped down on the bed next to him and sighed, "I give up.".
He thought. And thought. And thought. Until he triumphantly announced, "Ice Cream. That will do it.".
As the word... No! .... tried to make its way out of my mouth, I simply shut my lips and nodded my head, Yes. Not needing to convince Arlo, we tucked the boys in the stroller and leisurely landed in our favourite cure-all shop.And in case you were wondering, Hugh's ice cream cone has kindly not made a second apperance....yet.

OPEN

"Oh-oh-oh-puh-puh-puh-puh-en. En. En. Oh-puh-en? Open? Open, Mummy! OPEN!!! OPEN!"For us, this sign...on this building...will always be remembered as Hugh's first word ever read. His face filled with pride. His world opened with new possibilities. Today, watching Hugh unwrap the gift of reading, we are once again reminded how lucky we are to share in our child's discoveries.
Congratulations Hugh. We are so proud of you!

Cool Tricks

The Walk. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. steps in a row. Really...is there anything more incredible than watching a baby take its first zombie-like steps. Yesterday Arlo couldn't walk. Today he can. Everything just changed...in our lives and in his. It's remarkable. It's beautiful. It's most definitely a cool...very cool trick!xo
