Mystery

...Spotted on May 31, 2010 in Back Garden....
Was it the legendary baby swamp thing?Or the infamous hairy-legged monster baby?One thing we are sure of...it definitely was not the fabled hillbilly baby taking a dip in the ce-ment pond...while eating a snack.Nope...not here...didn't happen...couldn't have been...

Scoopers

Arlo has fallen in love. As the sun began to make its descent behind city hall, Hugh, Cupid and I stood patiently in our favourite ice cream shop. The ice cream enchantress working behind the counter handed me Hugh's frozen yogurt feast first. Next, I reached for Arlo's cone. Swat. A chubby hand forcefully pushed mine away. With eyes locked on to the ice cream enchantress, he gently plucked his frozen treat out of her hands. The room fell silent. Without a blink, he grunted.
"I think he just asked you to marry him." I said.
"I do." she replied.

Reunited

Garden Blooming :: check.
Grass Growing :: check.
Sun Blistering :: check.
But something is missing...indeed....the back garden is looking way too tasteful. We feel like it needs something inflatable. Perhaps neon green. Something that draws the eye passed the flowering bee balm...around the fever few...and over the rock wall.
Hugh? Arlo? Any suggestions??
Yep, thought so...welcome back our tacky friend...welcome back.

Cottage

Well...we did it! Despite the fact we slip in the occasional 'eh' and know why people wear poppy pins in November...we are NOW officially Canadian because we celebrated the May 24 {pronounced :: May Two Four...you see, that also makes us Canadian because we know how to...as Hugh says, "talk Canadia"} weekend up at the cottage. Snuggled against thousands of motorists along Hwy 401, we wiggled our way to the place where the air is familiar, the water is cold and the only piece of clothing worth wearing is...
Hey Hugh, What's the only piece of clothing worth wearing?
Ah, thank you...I think.
We played the way May 24 players play. We ate the way May 24 eaters eat. We celebrated the opening of Cottage Season 2010 the way May 24 cottagers celebrate. And now...for you Uncle Jamie...the obligatory cottage shot :: xo

monster

Today Hugh took on a monster's foot. Casually and naturally, he wore it as if it has always been a part of him. I felt it really shined during our visit to the greenhouse. At that point, I had already grown accustom to Hugh's new appendage. But for those catching a glance for the first time...well, I'd like to think they were a little scared.
"Is he REALLY part monster?"they would wonder,"And why is his other shoe on the wrong foot? What's going on here!!??!!"We paid no mind as we pulled our clumsy wagon through the rows of annuals, perennials and herbs. Hugh chose a celery, tarragon and nierembergia plant. One green thumb. One green foot. Perfection. xo
