They're Mighty Machines

Probably if you don't have a 3 year old boy {or girl...pardon me for almost generalizing} you haven't heard of the television series, Mighty Machines. It features live footage of machines performing tasks...anything from airplanes to zambonis {obviously a Canadian show}. And the show has the catchiest theme song which can remain in a loop in your head for days upon days until you think you might actually wish to be run over by a Mighty Machine just to make it stop...but anyway....Hugh and Miles watch, play, eat, sing and breathe Mighty Machines.
Can you imagine their delight when we arrived at the Mighty Machine exhibition? We walked among the cranes...climbed in pay loaders, excavators, wiggle wagons, bob cats, fork lifts, back hoes and a zamboni. We ran around helicopters, snow mobiles, water trucks, toe trucks and garbage trucks. There were many times where we thought a melt down from pure excitement was only seconds away...but it didn't happen. With the dignity of a machine operator, Hugh held it together. The highlight for Hugh was receiving a Certificate of Excellence for his participation in assisting the recovery of a tipped over tanker truck. Along with about 75 other children Hugh pulled and tugged on a rope eventually lifting the tanker back on to its wheels. As parents we often wonder what our children will be when they grow up. The obvious answer here would be...machine operator. But in addition to, today we witnessed a respectful, mindful and curious soul rejoicing in working with and learning from others. So no matter what or who Hugh chooses to be, we are already so thankful of who he has become.

PostScript: Guess what's blaring out of this machine? Listen here only if you dare! Mighty Machines, big and mighty machines, working with you doing mighty things they're...mighty machines. Hear them roar, watch them soar, sit right down and see....
Oh please make it stop!
